Grown Ups
If you were a little boy
And I was a little girl
I would share my lunch
With you and laugh
At your silly jokes
If you were a teenage boy
And I was a teenage girl
I would swear my love to you
And look forward to our
Happily ever after
But you are a man grown
And I am a woman
Our days are far from idyllic
While we struggle to
Meet life head on
Still sometimes at night
As I cuddle close to
Your body for warmth
I reach into a bag of Oreos
And hand one to you
Just in case you ever wondered
And I was a little girl
I would share my lunch
With you and laugh
At your silly jokes
If you were a teenage boy
And I was a teenage girl
I would swear my love to you
And look forward to our
Happily ever after
But you are a man grown
And I am a woman
Our days are far from idyllic
While we struggle to
Meet life head on
Still sometimes at night
As I cuddle close to
Your body for warmth
I reach into a bag of Oreos
And hand one to you
Just in case you ever wondered
