Astrological Anomaly
In a serene field of sagegrass
serenaded by the mistaken sanctity
disguised in daylight.
This ain't a sanctuary,
it's a sordid reality
bringing back my forlorn prophecy
of a slightly older me
where I ignore the warning signs
written in the night sky
in my month of Gemini.
The rough grass grazes my knees.
I grab the moon and eat it whole
Then slip into a sporadic bout
of unsettling sanity.
My head stops spinning.
My world starts spinning the way physics say.
Suddenly I'm moving forward.
I was walking backward all along.
I finally created me,
and at that moment; you consumed me-
Moon and all the other things.
Left me limp, swaying from an oak tree
by a bedsheet
Until I shrink into a pebble and slip out;
grabbed in the beak of a crow.
It carries me away and tries to swallow,
but spits me out
I fall
I land
I wait
I grow
into a mountain range.
I am the mountains now,
and you ate a half digested moon.
Give the night its light back.
I don't want the rest of me back.
I'm bigger now.
I'm better now.
You say nothing makes sense now.
I say nothing ever did.
