Remains of The Day
Today I found
Little reminders of you
Like left-over children
An abandoned sock
In the corner of my room
Your favorite bottle
Of hot sauce in the refrigerator
A barrette tucked inside
A box of index cards
Little memories tucked
In the nooks and crannies
I know you are gone
I am reminded every day
When I rise up in the morning
And lie down at night
But I never thought finding
Your forgotten detritus
Would leave me shaking
And in tears.
God, I miss you so much.
Little reminders of you
Like left-over children
An abandoned sock
In the corner of my room
Your favorite bottle
Of hot sauce in the refrigerator
A barrette tucked inside
A box of index cards
Little memories tucked
In the nooks and crannies
I know you are gone
I am reminded every day
When I rise up in the morning
And lie down at night
But I never thought finding
Your forgotten detritus
Would leave me shaking
And in tears.
God, I miss you so much.
