A Bird in the Hand
While our bodies
Lay intertwined
Secrets pass between
Your heart and mine
A skimming touch
A subtle taste
A slow devouring
No need for haste
Your hands make the journey
Through valley and plain
As mine travel downward
Then home again
Mouth to mouth
We breathe as one
Drinking in heat
Never matched by the sun
And in the silent ragged seconds
We grapple, finding strength secure
As you expire deep inside me
And mark me once and all as yours.
Lay intertwined
Secrets pass between
Your heart and mine
A skimming touch
A subtle taste
A slow devouring
No need for haste
Your hands make the journey
Through valley and plain
As mine travel downward
Then home again
Mouth to mouth
We breathe as one
Drinking in heat
Never matched by the sun
And in the silent ragged seconds
We grapple, finding strength secure
As you expire deep inside me
And mark me once and all as yours.
