The Window
I sit by myself
Solitude memories bring
I stare out the window
Not seeing a thing
I move from the window
And onto the bed
Doesn’t much matter now
Chaos in my head
My mind won’t be quiet
Filled with what I have lost
Alone in this room
My heart suffers the cost
I stand in the hall
Hold the wall for support
Loneliness steals my breath
I can’t take much more
Too scared to leave
Too frightened to stay
I can’t make a choice
At least not today
I go back to the window
Where nothing has changed
I stare out into darkness
I will never be the same
Solitude memories bring
I stare out the window
Not seeing a thing
I move from the window
And onto the bed
Doesn’t much matter now
Chaos in my head
My mind won’t be quiet
Filled with what I have lost
Alone in this room
My heart suffers the cost
I stand in the hall
Hold the wall for support
Loneliness steals my breath
I can’t take much more
Too scared to leave
Too frightened to stay
I can’t make a choice
At least not today
I go back to the window
Where nothing has changed
I stare out into darkness
I will never be the same
