Lanterns of the Universe
A pale sky, blue Mary
whispering morning,
Through my head, my heart, igniting
the crepuscular matutine,
A red barn, dark amid the dawn
lends me a nail hanging
a thought through splintered pane,
In the hayfield down the way
there is allure
ready for its first cutting
stirring texture in the waves
And the purple thistle weed nearby;
is charming to the senses
A morning star, I wonder
over Saturn in my head,
my hands, my heart,
my hair, filled with the wind,
Clear as blue Mary whispering
morning, lanterns of the universe
are sweeping shadows of earth, a world away.
