When the Summer Wind Blows and Flowers Bloom, You Are On My Mind
Maybe we were too much alike.
That we could never agree on getting along
I wanted you to listen
but you never would
You wanted me to understand
But I never listened.
We both wanted the same things
You wanted things to happen your way
I wanted things to happen my way
Which were the same thing as yours
But do it my way
Then we can do it your way
But yours first.
Both artists carving out our world
Painting self portraits
Like Kahlo and Homer
Arguing which is more real.
We didn’t leave because we didn’t care
We left each other because we were
either too bold in our honesty
or too afraid to be honest enough
Not satisfied with honesty
We agreed with each other on the niceties
And argued on the truths.
Your face still comes to me
With your raven hair and deviant smile
And missing you from time to time
Wondering if we did not get along
Because we were too much alike.
That we could never agree on getting along
I wanted you to listen
but you never would
You wanted me to understand
But I never listened.
We both wanted the same things
You wanted things to happen your way
I wanted things to happen my way
Which were the same thing as yours
But do it my way
Then we can do it your way
But yours first.
