Ashes

Under my skin.
You lit a fire in my soul.

That fire is consuming me.
Able to see, you go on damaging.

You are sadistic,truly.
This fire burning everyone and everything in its path.
You must laugh at how easy it was to fool me.

It will not be put out.
Uncontrollable, I want it to stop burning.
Too consumed to cry,to shout.

I am not blameless,
I let you in,
naming other fires flame less.

This fire is burning me down.
Ashes will be all that is left of me.
What then of the fire that I found?

Embers remain,
unstoked,
I will never hold another flame.
