animal instinct
between us
the amalgamation
and consummation
of animal instinct
when u r animal
i am instinct
i anticipate ur approach
storming me
with ur relentless love
but u can be only gentle animal
my calming quenching dove
inspiring instant life
instead of causing swift demise
i harbour only
keen instinct
as ur pheromone draws me
intensely
into ur amazing habitat
u nurse me with ur tender breasts
the twin ducklings of solomon’s
shulamite phantasm
4 i must feed upon their stem cells
my ache finding relief among the lilies
of ur compassionate spirit
but when i am mean animal
u r distinct instinct
anticipating my vigorous thrust
instinctively saving me
from the precipice
of my own recklessness
for i am ur ferocious lion
that u alone can calm
as daniel in his den
was delivered from the fury of attack
i am animal for ur wine
and u r instinct filling me
with the fulfilment
of ur fullness
come to me fully unabridged
and unabashed
and unabated
4 ur instinctive love
is the antidote of my
animal nostalgia
ur opulent fruition
blooms in my face
touching the depths
of my tameless
timeless soul
in the commingling
of my naked spirit
with ur perfect endless love…

This would be a much better poem if it was not written like a text message. It's 'you are' not 'u r', 'your' or 'you're' not ur. I won't pick your poem apart because there are some beautiful images here but even in poetry certain rules apply. I love the biblical references, though.That was a nice touch.
Thank you for your reasonable comment; it is not dissimilar to the preferences of the DU editors. Linguistic choice does have its time and place; I would certainly not accept this representation in an English language paper!
If I appear somewhat defensive, let it be forgivably on these two grounds: (a) poetry submits to minimalism, which the poet can achieve via concise thought and phonemic diminution; and (b) poetic license is a legitimate claim of the experienced poet, since such liberty is not based on random acts of indiscretion, but on measured intent. Did you know that "textspeak" is more intelligible than the Old English that world greats such as Shakespeare wrote (e.g., in "The Pardoner's Tale")? I would conclude by saying: let's go for meaning and intent, rather than media and insignia, as far as poetry is concerned. Please respond further. Thank you.
