Buried Treasure
I searched for buried treasure
Where none had searched before
Some said there was merely sand
But I knew there was more
They said I was dreaming
For how could I ever find
Anything of worth and value
In something left behind
But I could see it shining
Beneath the hardened shell
A treasure of tender fortune
Worth more than words can tell
Many laughed as I dug deeper
To find the hidden core
But they no longer scoffed
When I found wealth and so much more
For when my eyes beheld the splendor
I knew that it was true
I found more riches than words can express
When I found the love in you
Where none had searched before
Some said there was merely sand
But I knew there was more
They said I was dreaming
For how could I ever find
Anything of worth and value
In something left behind
But I could see it shining
Beneath the hardened shell
A treasure of tender fortune
Worth more than words can tell
Many laughed as I dug deeper
To find the hidden core
But they no longer scoffed
When I found wealth and so much more
For when my eyes beheld the splendor
I knew that it was true
I found more riches than words can express
When I found the love in you
