American nightmare

For years I chased this so called American Dream they told me you can start off with nothing and end up with everything
But what's the price that you pay working like a Slave from day to day only anticipating the weekend or a holiday
They said work hard and get you a nice car and house
But what they don't say is by the time you pay that car off you'll be dying for the new one that just came out
Or they never mention the fact that most people don't live long enough to see their dream house paid off
Or that you can work for the same company for twenty years and never be a boss
But this that American Dream they said while the wolves of Wall Street  prey on the blue collar workers who always end up mislead
You mean to tell me I gotta work to 65 and if by chance I do manage to stay alive I gotta use my life savings for health insurance?
While they got rich of the iPhone 6 I only end up with 100 minute phone plan by assurance
They said fall in love get married live love and laugh
Just to find out if things don't work out she entitled to half

I done seen feelings change like the seasons do i done watched I dos turn into fuck you I hate you too
Seen relationships end so ugly after starting so beautiful
And with that in my mind I refused to be confined to the meaning of YOUR American Dream
Cuz if u look closer things ain't always wit they seem
Living in this American nightmare
