Ask Her to Dinner

I held the door for her

There were several,
During the tour we were on.

I held them all for her.

It was a grand old manse,
Turn of the century,
A couple of centuries ago.

Walked up and down the halls,
In and out of the rooms,
All four floors.

We were near the back,
Of the tour group,

At the end of the hall,
On the top floor,
The guide motioned for us,
To climb a steep stairway,
(almost a ladder),
To the attic,
To complete the tour.

She smiled,
Said she would go first.

Since she was in a dress,
A short one at that,
I frowned,
Ask her if she was sure,
She wanted to do that.

She smile at me,
Answered,
Yes,
To thank you,
For being a gentleman,
With all of the doors.

I said something about,
Saying thank you,
Was all the,
Thank you,
I needed,
And,
That,
I should go first.

She turned to the steps,
Glanced at me,
Replied,
That she was the kind of lady,
Who knew how to thank,
A gentleman.

And,
That,
I should be enough of,
A gentleman,
To accept,
A lady’s,
Thank you,
When it was offered.

I smile,
She started up the steps.

At the top,
I thanked her,
For her,
Thank you,
To me.

And ask her to dinner.
