Highways in my Head

I don't know what to say
but I can never stop talking.
I've always got a funny remark
I keep them laughing just fine
it's easier than speaking what's on my mind,
like "help me, I am drowning"
I've got low oxygen and weak arms.
I've never been much of a swimmer
but I'm a gold trophy quitter.

Thinking too much is a given
cause I've got highways in my head.
I'm on another new prescription
how many refills till I'm dead?
How many refills till I'm dead?

You were skilled, & I was down
I made for an easy target
pretending to be a challenge.
You played cat & mouse with me
setting traps I never even thought to see.
I was quick, but you were quicker
with your silver tongue & smile
leaving notes inside my brain
like yellow post its with your name.

Thinking too much is a given
cause I've got highways in my head.
I'm on another new prescription
how many refills till I'm dead?
How many refills till I'm dead?

Call me names, but don't call me yours
because that kind of talk's expired.
We're two people becoming strangers
i feel better as you feel stranger.

Thinking too much is a given
cause I've got highways in my head.
I'm on another new prescription
how many refills till I'm dead?
How many refills till I'm dead?

I don't know what to say
but I never can stop talking.
