You love me like fire
I can feel the heat you light me with,
cheeky pokes for a brighter burn
the tickles and kisses from the flames;
Attention you breathe into me
making my glow luminous
in the darkest of days.
I hope to burn you
....with the same intensity
making your soul flicker bright.

May this intensity never cool
Or be left to extinguish
via an absent carer’s hand...
We’ll never be soot,
burnt out fragments
grey without the other.
The only visible pieces
of a life that was,
Pieces the wind picks up
...and carries away.
