Just a man

You’re just a man, I can replace
no anger on her placid face
the words alone were merely fact
Why does the obvious, require tact?
I said, I love you over all the earth
And in a thought you dismiss my worth.
How can you think, to act, or plan
When you find out you are just a man.

through the years I looked for peace
And yet the doubt fails to cease
Sought to give you all you need
Yet still it fails to do the deed
In your eyes, I cannot not see
what for you I need to be
So alone, in the world I stand
Because to you, I am just a man.

Our vow was more than, have and hold
Honor and cherish are equal gold
I’ve held your hand, and dried your eyes
Shown you all the bluer skies
I healed your heart and fed your mind
Fought away the fears that bind
Having given you all I can
In this world, as just a man

So search your home, all satin laced,
You’ll find how quickly I’m replaced
Let knowledge then be your guide
For now you can no longer hide
Take the door, let it swing
And find that doubt has taken wing
All in hope since we began
I have been more than just, I am a man
