My Comfort Zone
I found safety in my comfort zone
She had brown eyes
And a hatred for herself that consumed her being
After countless nights of reassuring her that she is okay
That everything is okay
She did something miraculous-
She believed it
What I didn't expect in this
Was that she would drift away
Without tying a rope to me and bringing me with her
I watched as she floated down the river towards happiness
I was left naked in a ship that was meant for two
I tried to hook myself onto any willing other without success
Hoping that there was room for my ship on their dock
After one careless evening
I abandoned ship
I tossed the hook into the abyss
And decided to swim
I made friends with the fish
And found a new river to float down
She had brown eyes
And a hatred for herself that consumed her being
After countless nights of reassuring her that she is okay
That everything is okay
She did something miraculous-
She believed it
What I didn't expect in this
Was that she would drift away
Without tying a rope to me and bringing me with her
I watched as she floated down the river towards happiness
I was left naked in a ship that was meant for two
I tried to hook myself onto any willing other without success
Hoping that there was room for my ship on their dock
After one careless evening
I abandoned ship
I tossed the hook into the abyss
And decided to swim
I made friends with the fish
And found a new river to float down
