My Love On A Summer's Day

I stand quite still... solitary in the tall grass
Extending my arms out with palms down
Feeling the breeze push and bend the stalks
Tenderly brushing against my fingertips
Like the velvety breath of your loving whispers
Closing my eyes, you are there

A songbird sings in the distance
a bright happy trill-a-trill it croons
filling the air with a melodic symphony
calling for its mate with joyful heart
It's your voice resonating on the wind
Calling to me "Come... come my love"

I lay with back pressed upon the soft cool ground
golden rays enfold me in a blanket of sparkling radiance
The warmth seeping deep into my very marrow
Embracing me like an impassioned lover
Just as the heat from your smoldering embrace
Ignites an inferno within my soul
