dead petals
if a flower blooms in the dark of night, with no sun to warm its soul
is it made evil by the darkness that fed it, that nourished it, that gently caressed its petals
will the darkness steal its beauty making it ugly and vile, or does it only hide it behind its dark crooked smile
reaching for the sun but only finding the stars in darkness it lives watching life from afar
feeding on the sin that makes it who it is, take away the darkness will it still exist
no one stops to smell the flowers upon its branch, instead they pass with turned up noses imagining the stench
beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it holds no ones eye, so in its longing for love it just gives up and withers and dies
