The Crimson Mirror

I look into the mirror and I see...
someone else staring back at me.

I see the scarlet tears, on wounds still fresh,
the rose colored droplets, weeping from my flesh.

I see me laughing, and grinning with glee...
emanating an aura of obscurity.

Its eyes began turning a sanguine hue,
like the visage of a nightmare that had come true.

So out of fear, I shattered the glass...
so that the shade could no longer harass.

My fist now a crimson...trickling mass..
and large pools of red began to amass.

But to my horror...and disbelief...
the shade returned to heighten my grief.

In the shattered reflections it reappeared...
taunting with content as it crazily sneered.

I stepped back...reeling from what I saw...
crippled by terror...frozen in awe.

A deafening shriek then knocked me down,
the mirror exploded with a horrific sound.

The specter stood over me...then dug into my chest...
shocking me awake from my untimely "rest".

The Horror still haunts me...those eyes...so red...
an eternal reminder of the terror I bled.
