My Last Date with Eve
It was an idyllic night
The dark firmament adorned with stars in their brilliance
In a bar I was at the moment
With a book in hand, reading some fables.
From the left wing of the bar she came
Every step she took was with such grace
All eyes in the bar were on her
She was beautiful
With a body so accurately crafted
I would say she definitely was the grand design of the Creator
She drew nigh and I stood waiting
I reached for her hand, held it, raised it and let my lips kiss its supple skin
The table was already set
We started talking
She kept on smiling
The stars in her eyes shining brightly
Through the time I thought we were having fun
I looked at her eyes and the stars were gone
For a sec I was stunned
Politely I asked, "what's wrong?"
She couldn't speak at first
Her heart was heavy
She heaved a sigh and finally let it out
"I like you but don't love you from the bottom of my heart".
I felt like I was thrown into a hearth
Marvin Gaye's heard it through the grapevine was playing in mind
I closed my eyes and swallowed the pain.
"Sorry", she said, truly being sincere
"It's okay", I said withholding my resentment.
Speechless we were till we decided to leave
Couldn't believe this would be my last date with Eve.
