The Bomb
The brightness was blinding.
Flashing harsh and bright.
The fall-out was catastrophic.
Bomb-shells littered the floor,
And there was blood everywhere,
Here and there a limb,
Rubble,
Smoke.
You had blown us away.
We awoke in a daze,
Covered in gauze.
You were a complete disaster.
We did our best to survive you.
We nursed our wounds.
Some of us died.
Later, we hid the scars and tried to forget you,
But there were pieces of you lodged under our skin,
Like shrapnel,
Safely encased in our scar tissue.
You will always be a part of us.
Everywhere we go, you go too.
You will never be alone again.
