Lost at sea

A stranger gazed deeply into my eyes today
and told me he had observed a beautiful tradgedy.
A lonely ship on a voyage in the deepest of oceans,
Little hope to guide it to safety
apart from the captains treasured compass.

He told me he could smell the fear welling in my eyes.
Hear me gasping for air as the waters surely rised,
See the doubt in my eyes,
that I would make it through the depths.

He fiddled with his thumbs as he further described his sightings.
A ship not only dealing with depths,
but also fighting thunderstorms up above.
He told me he could hear the skies conflict,
'You won't make it, You're forever lost',
'No sighting of the shore will ever be near'.

A heart battling for comfort, but uncertainty taking its toll.

The stranger looked at me in a comforting but unfamiliar way,
and asked me if I have any questions.
I replied  with “how do you see such depth?”

Gently he took my hands into his
and showed me the scars which traced them.
The depths and the colours confused me.

He said,
“I have battled raging storms, and struggled with little hope”,
“I have had thunderstorms up above, and no shore left insight.”

"But let me tell you through wisdom,
for when all hope seems lost at sea."

“There will always be a light which will guide you to the shore,
"Just look inside your heart and follow, your compass forward North.”
