Heartbreak
I'm lost.
An un-anchored boat
Far from the harbour of your arms.
Drifting across a meaningless sea
Steered by whatever wind
Will fill my lacklustre sails.
My ailing crew, my rotten decks
The sad disintegration
Of a ship, once full of such purpose, such pride.
No wonder seagulls wail above me.
I miss you. All I want
Is your arms around me again.
To let you hold me safe and warm
Just once. Just once.
My heart is broken, my bed is empty.
You wander, a ghost, through my thoughts.
I can't forget you, your face, your hands
Your little imperfections. All the things
I loved about you.
Now you are gone. The horizon
Is bleak. I sometimes wonder
Why my little boat
Keeps sailing at all.
An un-anchored boat
Far from the harbour of your arms.
Drifting across a meaningless sea
Steered by whatever wind
Will fill my lacklustre sails.
My ailing crew, my rotten decks
The sad disintegration
Of a ship, once full of such purpose, such pride.
