Sometimes.. They Win

When you start to heal
You feel on top of the world
Like nothing can hurt you
Like a high

But as there are highs
There are also lows
Times when everything that you’ve repressed
Comes back up again
Stuff that makes you doubt
Stuff that makes you do stuff you shouldn’t

It’s like a little voice in your head
Making you doubt
Making you question

Is it really worth fixing?
Do they really care about you?
Do I really matter?
Am I worth fixing?

This tiny little voice has power
Makes you regret ever trying to fix yourself
Tries to put you back in isolation
Makes you think that it’s better
Safer

You try and fight the voice
But it’s hard
And it’s so persuasive
And you think
Why do I try?
And just maybe
You let the voices win
