Angel
Children are angels from heaven sent.
Like captive birds clipped is one wing.
Searching for their earthly purpose their time is spent.
Light into your life they gladly bring.
Nurture and love them with gentle care.
Let them spread their angel wings.
Their shining souls they will bare.
Watch them fly as joy they brings.
Like a captive bird, crippled is one wing.
I was kept in a cage for far too long.
My soul was never allowed to sing.
The urge to stay cagged is far too strong.
Adult am I and no one's child.
Crippled wing, you are my life's bane.
Memory of where I once came is now beguiled.
I dwell upon the silver wing I wear on a chain.
