This Place

I feel like I could drown
When you hold me
In your comfort
And when you wrap me
In waves of contentment
You take me under
Eventually
My fear is strong
But helpless to the flow
Whether right or wrong
I come where you want me to go
I could swim to the surface
If you weren't so deep
And if you didn't have hooks
To capture me
Tenderly
But the soft environment we create
Keeps me feeling safe
As the world gets swept away
I feel like I'll be okay
I'm where nobody can find
All worry stripped from mind
Losing all sense of time
For this moment all is fine
And all I want to do
Is exist here in this place
Just me and you
Sharing this relaxed state

Walls fall down
Rendered still
Nearly soothed to sleep
Breakable pieces of me
Could be easily shattered
But you handle them carefully
Desires to slip away
Become harder to fight
I fall before I notice
The only thing I have left
Is the assurance that you feel it
And so I grab on to these moments
As I lay blanketed in their warmth
Peace and calm wash over me
Thoughts exchange in wordless form
Emotions control the light we see
Suspended in the atmosphere
That you and I have made
I'm happy just to be here
While the world begins to fade
And there's nothing I can do
To accurately convey
How appreciative I am of opportunities to
Exist with you in this place

A spot where we can rest
Whenever we need a break
No effort to invest
Just a beautiful escape
Drops of time not left to waste
While we continue to create
Because the depth of this space
Is something only you and I could make
And I don't know what lies ahead
Or what roads we're going to take
I'm just grateful for each step
That led to specialness of this place
