Screams
The loud screech
Penetrating every pore
You watch as she struggles
Kicking and screaming
Through life
Screaming those long dreadful shrieks
That no one seems to hear
Except you
Watching ever long
Wanting, needing to intervene
Tell her you hear
Tell her you care
Tell her you understand
But you are lost in the crowd
Shuffled away
Lost from sight
In an endless wave
The screams growing fainter and fainter
Until finally
A sharp life silences them
Penetrating every pore
You watch as she struggles
Kicking and screaming
Through life
Screaming those long dreadful shrieks
That no one seems to hear
Except you
Watching ever long
Wanting, needing to intervene
Tell her you hear
Tell her you care
Tell her you understand
But you are lost in the crowd
Shuffled away
Lost from sight
In an endless wave
The screams growing fainter and fainter
Until finally
A sharp life silences them
