Vision
Anger increases as vision descends
Sending a flash to the world as it ends
I go big, I stand tall, keep my hat to the wall
Small time ain’t no time, so let the chips fall.
I never did fit, I never could win it
I still can’t smile, don’t know how to spin it.
I never could learn the rules of the game
So I threw them all out, now I shout my own name.
So many are cool now that it’s over
But when it counted, they gave me the shoulder
They think I forgot, but I still run it down
I wanted to king but they made me a clown.
Now it’s all ashes, rivers, and rain
And making the best of my ride on this train.
It drives me to work far into the night
Hoping some day I might get it right
And be all the things that I came here to be.
The wild, the willing, the young, and the free.
So I stagger and stumble and rumble and rhyme.
Saving my world four beats at a time.
