A Better Me
Through the mud,
Is a rosy world.
Through the window,
A reality.
Anchoring soul to body,
Horrid, troubled body.
Letting come the waters,
Spilled from dirty muck.
If only the reflection,
Showed not the imperfections,
Of hurt and fear;
Bravery and strength.
Through the mud,
I live my life.
Waiting till the water's clean.
Coming forth my other self.
The better part of me.
Who's flat of chest,
Who's strong in spirit,
Who's confident, proud.
Who's oh so sure,
Of those strong hands.
If the mirror could only come out!
If those strong hands,
Could take my own.
And switch,
I'd be happy.
To be lost on the other side.
Watching my reflection,
Live the better life;
A better me.
Is a rosy world.
Through the window,
A reality.
Anchoring soul to body,
Horrid, troubled body.
Letting come the waters,
Spilled from dirty muck.
If only the reflection,
Showed not the imperfections,
Of hurt and fear;
Bravery and strength.
Through the mud,
I live my life.
Waiting till the water's clean.
Coming forth my other self.
The better part of me.
Who's flat of chest,
Who's strong in spirit,
Who's confident, proud.
Who's oh so sure,
Of those strong hands.
If the mirror could only come out!
If those strong hands,
Could take my own.
And switch,
I'd be happy.
To be lost on the other side.
Watching my reflection,
Live the better life;
A better me.
