Hollow

Forever flawed is mankind
Left alone and broken inside
Victim to a mind so unkind
Our need to forsake clarity for sanity is implied
 
The same mistake is often made
Perhaps it is the penance for life’s disparity  
Yet, like a Picasso in the rain
Subtle genius gets washed away
 
What remains but a dank shroud of solitude?
Shielding ones soulless and saddened eyes
Self-deprecation is a telling prelude
To ending an empty life of disguise
 
Remnants of our derelict fairy tales  
Fill the gaps of our fractured hearts
A burdened reminder of our greatest fails
Of which we wish no remark
 
To all of those with the best of intents
Nothing more than solemn goodbyes await
From a world who knows no repent
To that I beg you waste no debate
 
For alone you came
As so you will follow
Broken, desolate and hollow
