I've always believed in the concept that we are either growing
or dying. With that in mind, what motivates me is essentially
one of two things: the first is connection; my relationship
to others: my family, my friends. I want to at least have some
impact on their lives. I don’t want to be someone that comes
when I need something then goes when everything is said and
done. I want to contribute to their joy, be a solution to
their problems, and a tonic to their pain. To be any and all
of those things is to fulfill a sense of purpose and self-
worth. The second is curiosity. Curiosity, I think is very
important to each and every one of us, it is both an
intellectual and an emotional experience; curiosity is what
makes our lives worthwhile, it makes our brief stay here on
earth more exciting. Imagine a world without it; it would have
been a dull and boring world, where we just wait to expire.
Thinking and feeling are all the brain does and when I indulge
my natural curiosity, I become more informed and emotionally
inspired. I think people shouldn't restrict themselves of the
norm, of what should be and what shouldn't. We shouldn't be
afraid to try things we've never tried, go to places we've
never been, open our eyes and see the bigger picture. We
should explore not just ourselves, but the mysteries of the
world, try to understand and see its beauty. It’s not too late
for change; we have a lifetime of it. That's motivation and
every time we satisfy that urge to know and discover, it opens
new possibilities for growth, and growth is life.
