Narcissistic Roller Coaster

“Hey, I built you this roller coaster
and I want to take you for a ride.
Secure your belt and hold on tight
you’re gonna wish you would have died!”
“I think you are beautiful, you’re the one for me”
As the cart slowly climbs to the top
Tells you everything you’ve always wanted to hear
you wish this ride was never going to stop.
You find yourself upside down
then high up as it climbs once again,
this time it descends at a quicker pace,
hey life is full of ups and downs with a friend.
He always takes more than you can give
As you honor him like a king.
He treats you like you’re his servant
You’re not a person but more like a thing.
“Do what I say,
don’t do what I do.
For me it’s okay
but it’s not for you too!”
He barks his commands at you
like you are some sort of kennel dog.
Pets you if you are a good little doggy
if not he’s a chauvinistic hog.
One day it’s good.
The next day is bad.
One day you’re happy.
The next day you’re sad.
His words never match what he does -
you are learning to listen with your eyes!
Forget everything he’s ever told you,
his actions will never tell you any lies.
Only when it benefits the likes of him
and you have been the best servant doggy you can be,
this is when he treats you like he always should.
You’ve fallen out of love – now you can see.
He’s taken away things money can’t buy -
Your self esteem, your motivation, your friends.
You’re not the first on this narcissistic ride,
you wish you would die so it could end.
