The week the world crumbled
The air was fresh as it could be
The sky bluer than the sea
Back and forth the people bustled
And through scarce trees the soft wind rustled
Then through the peaceful air did ring
A tragedy a day should never bring
Smoke billowed through the air
As flames devoured without care
That first day as the second crash we heard
Knew it was no accident, no stray bird
We held each other close to pray
That those we loved would see another day
Minutes dragged into hours we waited as we must
Til what once so proud crumbled into dust
That day a nation stood still
The once warm air now held a deadly chill
Till dawn we waited, praying together yet alone
Until they told us, those we loved weren't coming home
That day the world crumbled
And all around the rubble tumbled
The third day we took to mourn
Our world broken, our hearts torn
So many lost at first
But of the tragedy the dead were not the worst
The fourth day we felt exposed, open to attack
We stayed indoors, carefully watched our back
Round the table great men spoke
And from its slumber hatred woke
The fifth day we began to plot
In the ground criminals would rot
Hatred lit, the fire burned
And those resembling were spurned
The sixth day cried some more
The pain struck us to the core
We vowed to be avengers through our tears
Through the earth our justice seared
The seventh day we got our wish
Justice was their death borne kiss
That was the week the world crumbled.
The sky bluer than the sea
Back and forth the people bustled
And through scarce trees the soft wind rustled
Then through the peaceful air did ring
A tragedy a day should never bring
Smoke billowed through the air
