A belated letter to my mama

DEAR MAMA

Im sorry that it's been so long
Since I wrote a letter to you
I kept every card you ever sent
I hope you know that I missed you too

Im so sorry I haven't been around
I hope you knew that I wanted to
I wish I could have stayed in England
And spent so much more time with you

I remember every story
That you ever told to me
Seven sisters, matlocks Romeo
And the star above your chimney

You'd squeeze my hand and tell me
How much you loved my sweet grandad
I see two stars above me now
And I know you're no longer sad

Bonfire toffee, bakewell tarts
Domino's with cups of tea
My boulderdash team player
Always French with you and me

You told me once that I inspired you
That meant so much to hear
Cos mama YOU inspired me
Such a lady, a soul so dear

You always told me that you loved me
With a tear in your eye
Every time we flew back around the world you'd say
"This will be our last goodbye"

And mama I prayed every time
Hoping that you would be wrong
I really thought Id see you again
Wish Id known last year was the one

Mama I see yours and grandad stars
Mama they are the brightest two
Mama please tell grandad Im raising a beautiful boy
Mama Bailey loves and misses you like crazy too.
