AMOROUS BIRTHDAY
Ready to show my birthday suit
To my new man, who was so cute,
I used my next birthday (30)
To deepen our intimacy.
We spent my birthday in a bath,
Sharing a good wine and a laugh,
As thirty scented candles round
The bath burned till the wicks were downed.
Dried off, the two of us made love,
With him below and me above,
Put in our mutual first time
The energy of a hill climb.
I showed him some surprising ways
He had not known in former days;
He says that’s why he’s still with me,
Though it’s long since I met 30.

The poem grew out of what became verse 2's opening lines, and the proximity of 'birthday' and 'birthday suit' helped my imagination 'flesh' out the 'before' and 'after' to the bathroom scene (shorter and sweeter than the one in your last poem).
