Revenge

Out of spite, I should crawl into your lungs.
Bloom flowers and birth sunsets until
You can’t breathe anymore.

Out of spite, I should become your world,
Your oxygen,
Your reason to wake up every day.

Out of spite, I should show you what
Your twisted imagination can make
Love seem.

Out of spite, I should dig my way
Into your psyche,
Your dreams,
Your unconscious mind.

Out of spite, I should pretend to appreciate you,
Tell you all of the things that you want to hear,
And leave.

You feel that?
That sharp digging in the back of your mind
And that tugging on your heart
Is me.

Does it feel foreign to you?
You are usually the one making others
Feel that piercing, dragging
Sensation.

Out of spite, I should do it over and over again
Just to see you squirm.

Because love is a pain so sweet
A pain that I have experienced over and over
For you
For men like you.

I kept thinking that
If I shared your bed that love would follow.
That somehow, you would grow with me.
But every time, you diverge from me.

But do you even miss me?
