When Did the World Get So Dark

When did the world get so dark?
What a scary place.
Why did this happen at all?
Humans are all going to fall
Into a bottomless pit.
Filled to the top with remorse and grief.
Apologetic for their greed.
But then it'll be too late.
Our hearts are all filled with hate.

When did the world get so dark?
It wasn't meant to be this way.
Little children are hiding and crying.
Wishing and hoping someday that things will be different.
There must be a change they say.
We are the new age.
When we grow up,
Things will shape up.
Nothing will stay the same.
No more violence, no more bloodshed
We'll have a better day, nothing can stand in our way.
Except when our parents bring us down.
Our world will come crumbling down.
No one believed in our dreams.
Why is this world so mean?
We wanted a to change this dark world and make it a better place.
No one believed in us
Now our ideas will sit and rust.
The best of us will become apart of this dark and terrible world.
