Ode to Sekhmet
My terrible, beautiful Mother
Many tremble to see you, and most cannot stand your roar.
You taught me to roar, deep from the pit of my gut,
Bring up the fire from my womb, resonate in my heart,
Then release on blazing breath.
You delight in blood
But you know the secret ways
Of healing, of magic and madness.
You always protect.
My beautiful, terrible Mother
You are gentle with your offspring, your Chosen,
Though not since the time of the Pharaohs have you
Walked the land.
We remember you
We honour you still.
Warrior
Huntress
Seeker of Blood
Bringer of Rage and Destruction
Healer

Of healing, of magic and madness.
