The First Configuration

Spent my nights looking at the stars
I ponder if any eyes are looking
Back at me from afar?

The absence of God has driven me to this
A fraying line condemned to the abyss
Because of the lack of faith in the bible
I turned, willingly, to the devil

He gave unto me a polished box
Intricate in design
As a gateway to his kingdom
My fate is resigned

Beneath the eye of a never seeing lord
As another piece is struck from the board
The mourning bell is tolling in its sorrow
I may never witness the morrow

God, will you look on this broken man
Malcontent by design
As I solve the last part of this?
My hate is refined

My self inflicted torture
With rusted chains
And jagged hooks
Desecrate my flesh
The first configuration
Is now complete
Eyes staring from
The darkest abyss

Taste the blood of innocence
On forked tongues
Forsaken needs
Are becoming sins
The incisions paint the flesh
Beautiful red
A blossomed rose
Pain begins again

I embrace the laughter so devoid of mirth
Cruel and callous belching forth from its birth
Deep in the bowels of despair, I revel
I turned, willingly, into the devil

I’m godless, will you look at me now?
This spiral in decline
The Lament Configuration
Now has left me divine
