The Destruction of You and I

the sky hovers over us
you and i stay here

we both know that we are immortal
that our souls are older than our vessels for eternity
there is no cure

not a gunshot to the head
not a pop of the artery
not a fall from a building
not even diving into a volcano

our previous life was short from what we did
now we are here again
knowing nothing can take us down

at night, we stay awake so we dont have to dream
for it is in our dreams, that leads us to desire

we stay awake so we dont have nightmares
but it is our nightmares to live

the desire to die
which you and i both know is no longer possible

the starvation for life beyond our thousand year old vessels
it creates the new black hole
where we lay now

this living forever thing
its for the birds

why were we chosen to live for this eternal?
i guess it is in this, that we face our hell

only the simultaneous destruction of pure love and true hate can save us now
