Destiny
Life's a constant battle
Do I have regrets?
I'd fight it all again
That's a certainty
Lay my life on the line
For my children
O'er and o'er
I'd do it all again
What would I change
If I could
What changes would I make?
What branches in the path
Perchance would bear a second look?
Would second guessing change things in a better way for all?
Or
Would disaster on a grander magnitude befall?
In ancient times, there have been tales told of those few gifted with foresight.
They never ended well often doomed to tell of others' misfortune and death.
One such who comes to mind is Cassandra seer of Troy.
Resisting Sun god Apollo's advances, she was given foresight and warned all who would hear of the fall of Troy.
Cursed as mad yet doomed to foresee, she could not prevent their imminent destiny.
These days, no one can know precisely what the future might hold within its rheumy haze.
I think, mayhap, that might be for the best anyway.
I know not what the future may hold.
I am content with that.
I will continue this battle called life
I hope you will too
It's rather glorious in its way
It is dreadful as well
I do know that
But
I think it may just be worthwhile
So
I think it's best to stick around another day and see what that may bring...
Do I have regrets?
I'd fight it all again
That's a certainty
Lay my life on the line
For my children
O'er and o'er
I'd do it all again
What would I change
If I could

Hypatia came to mind as I was reading. Many things a second sight will bring, and dangers can be foreseen; never ignore your awesome intuition. Wonderful, Savaja, really delightful to read.

Thank you, indeed, Pishashee, luv :-* ~
Intuition is a most beneficial guide; perhaps it IS a second sight of sorts. I stand corrected. :-)
Grateful my heart is that you found delight herein, luv. :-*

Are we predestined to travel on a path that we can never change? Who knows? Thought provoking write Savaja. Enjoyed.

I hope we can change our path, that all is not laid out from beginning to end from birth onward. Somehow, that seems far more bleak than struggling through whatever life throws at us without there being some over-arching, overlaid something in place already.
Who knows, though, indeed?

Re: Destiny
Life is an adventure and to have foresight would diminish the thrill, the challenge of living each day incrementally ever adjusting and learning new things about ourselves and those who we love. Wisdom is had by applying what we've learned to enhance our life's experience. If we already knew what's coming life would be an exercise in boredom. Thank you, Savaja for the adventure and for stimulating, among other things, my thought process.

I am extremely gratified to know that your thought processes, as well as other things ;-), have been stimulated by my poetry, as you have been steadily arousing me, luv. :-*
Life is worth the journey, I believe. It is, no matter what challenges come along, and there are plenty, don't I know! :-p
