You Had Me All Wrong
I remember that night
When we said all our goodbyes
And I looked into those eyes
Past your beautiful disguise
I saw the death in you.
I never thought I'd see
What you really wanted
To do with me.
Brokenness runs in my family
And heartbreaks in our blood
I guess you should've known
I'd never be any good.
That sidewalk view
Never looked so nice
Staring at your house
While I'm sleeping with the mice.
I'd walk any distance
Just to make it back to my home
To see my mothers face
And the love that I was shown.
I'll burn this city down in passion
And I'll drown it in my tears
I'll rebuild it in my love
And control it in my fears
I'd break my heart
Just to feel it beat again
To see myself set free
I'd drown myself in sin.
I'd do anything
Not to feel so numb
I'd do anything
Just to feel young.
So I guess you can say
You had me all wrong.
When we said all our goodbyes
And I looked into those eyes
Past your beautiful disguise
I saw the death in you.
I never thought I'd see
What you really wanted
To do with me.
Brokenness runs in my family
And heartbreaks in our blood
I guess you should've known
I'd never be any good.
That sidewalk view
Never looked so nice
Staring at your house
While I'm sleeping with the mice.
I'd walk any distance
Just to make it back to my home
To see my mothers face
And the love that I was shown.
I'll burn this city down in passion
And I'll drown it in my tears
I'll rebuild it in my love
And control it in my fears
I'd break my heart
Just to feel it beat again
To see myself set free
I'd drown myself in sin.
I'd do anything
Not to feel so numb
I'd do anything
Just to feel young.
So I guess you can say
You had me all wrong.
