Lovers Death
I could feel the ice cracking beneath my feet
As it pulled me under
The waters lengthy depths
And cavernous edges.
I knew it was all going to end.
Right then and there, yet
All I could think about was
You.
The way your hair
Got tangled in your glasses.
When you furrowed
Your brow
At something preposterous
Or
When you would throw books
At the wall
When you were angry,
Instead of hitting me instead.
That’s all I could think about,
Not that fact that I am about
To fall through
The icy depths below me,
Because you matter more
Than any lovers shallow,
Quick death.
You my dear
Are larger than
Death
Itself .
As it pulled me under
The waters lengthy depths
And cavernous edges.
I knew it was all going to end.
Right then and there, yet
All I could think about was
You.
The way your hair
Got tangled in your glasses.
When you furrowed
Your brow
At something preposterous
Or
When you would throw books
At the wall
When you were angry,
Instead of hitting me instead.
That’s all I could think about,
Not that fact that I am about
To fall through
The icy depths below me,
Because you matter more
Than any lovers shallow,
Quick death.
You my dear
Are larger than
Death
Itself .
