Gemstone
Oh, washed up towers and prison walls.
No, I don't mean the bars, I've broken past it all.
Blackened eyes, my guy, now don't the dead see all?
Now I've got a cat eye stapled to my hand, it smells so raw.
Insane asylums are where I rule because I claim to be dead.
The really disturbed ones rarely dream of burdens in their hospital beds.
"We can conduct experiments so you believe you're happy" is what they said.
Thank shooting stars for this strike I led.
I was a tombstone.
I fell six feet underground a long time ago.
I was known for testing the wind, it was never just a gentle breeze.
My skeleton friends wanted to know how long it'd take to get to where we're going.
And I'd say, "My, my, my aren't we lonely?
I'd say so, but it's not too far.
We'll all be gemstones soon, I'd say valuable."
You make me valuable, just like a secret gemstone.
I just thought you'd like to know.
I hope you're fond of gemstones.
Oh my, weren't you a beached dolphin on the shore, honey?
That was before I found you looking at me, you were staring at me.
Bloody limbs, weren't you? Yeah, that's all you were.
You were lying in the cold, spiritless dirt.
911, didn't you detect a numb, numb soul on your fancy radar?
You couldn't find my baby so we're running far.
You couldn't care about the heartless if your heart rotted.
I don't care what you say so no penny for your thoughts.
And don't mind me, I''m just spitting out the past on this crochet canvas.
Many colors I have felt are represented here, weren't you listening?
Many lives I've been won't stand to be ignored.
I'm a narcissist, darling, so I want to be adored.
I'll stop dragging my wrists across the broken road,
But only if you promise to never go.
You say you'd do anything to see me happy.
Well, does that mean I'm all you need?
I was a tombstone.
I fell six feet underground a long time ago.
I was known for testing the wind, it was never just a gentle breeze.
My skeleton friends wanted to know how long it'd take to get to where we're going.
And I'd say, "My, my, my aren't we lonely?

I just thought you'd like to know.
I hope you're fond of gemstones.
