Adrenaline

You got your head filled with lies, too close to me.
The sky will rain tears, wet and cold, here we go.
You wanna break me so badly, but you can't help what controls you.
The ruse floats inside your head, so inconclusive.

You can't escape the monster you've become, oh, the desperation.
Wall throned in blood, the jagged edge takes away the lust.
Take more than you give, forsaken until the bliss...of adrenaline under your skin.

The open wounds have left you exposed, too close to me.
The ground will split apart, dark and gaping, run and run.
A habit turned obsession, it's an imperfection.
The fall has drained you of a hard-learned lesson.

The energy abandons you, how sick, vile, cruel, the inhumanity of this curse.
It's not of this universe, the poison spreads through you.
Infecting all that holds your life true, there's no savior for you here.

(I dedicate this poem to a friend of mine who is dealing with problems with drugs and to anyone else who's having the same problems. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for.)
