Pretty hurts I believe

She said pretty hurts
but for whatever reason I don't think the sea of girls heard her
While she stands mile high in her high heels
Lighting up the crowd with smiles
Flashing sequins, dangling earrings
Wanting for all their attention
Looking out at all that hold up her picture as if they are trophies
Waving their hands side to side singing her gospel
Living their lives as if it's all to please her.
Wearing their independence on their sleeves like it's the hottest fashion yet, wearing a ring of catering men as if they are our most sacred gifts
Charming ways she persuades
Indeed a girl, who runs the world
International , a high society nomad
With persuasion that could most likely build nation and nation at a time
Education that taught me to love thyself because I'm beautifully flawed
She said pretty hurts and I believe her
Trying to be everything everyone wants must be a tough occupation
Sometimes I stare at her photo dreaming of asking the one question that I have been burning to ask
"was it worth it?"
Fortune and fame,
Hollywood
The world where all know your name
The place where lights are always on
A camera always rolling, or snapping
A place where you can oddly love who you are and so will the flock that idolize
A thin rope you walk while in this place
And this is why I believe this is the greatest thing close to the truth
And why I believe her when she speaks
"pretty hurts"
