THE PHOENIX
I was walking through the kingdom made
of every goal mankind had won
where everything which God forbade
gleamed vibrant in the evening sun
I saw during twilight's untold myth
a bird I'd never seen before
nor viewed on any man-made glyph
or heard from any ancient lore
This creature's undeciphered shape
made demons hide from beauty's form
and angels weep from fearing rape
of crystal thoughts now never born
An alien chime from this alien breed
had broken the rhyme. To hear it's singing;
no song sung from future's seed
nor was it ancient spirits' bringing
I heard during twilight's untold tale
a song which I had never heard
from any string and fingernail
nor any throat and spoken word
this creature's undiscovered sound
made demons weep to hear it's song
and every angel then was bound
forever made to fear it's tongue
I felt during twilight's untold story
a beast that never did exist
and stranded here in mankind's glory
watched it waver in the mist.
