The Night Life
When the blues and the blacks
Suddenly melt
Together
With the yellows and whites
That's when
You've found
The Night Life
But my colors are still separate
And force can't bring them together
Like 50's America
Segregation runs rampant
The moon's bright
And the stars are in the sky
As I scribble down these words
I know my brain's not right
On my face, the shadow's coming in
All over my cheeks, especially my chin
Three o'clock in the morning, what could i expect?
It'll be a few more hours, I'd wager to bet
'til my blues and my blacks
And my yellows and whites
Finally come together
And cease this long fight
Suddenly melt
Together
With the yellows and whites
That's when
You've found
The Night Life
But my colors are still separate
And force can't bring them together
Like 50's America
Segregation runs rampant
The moon's bright
And the stars are in the sky
As I scribble down these words
I know my brain's not right
On my face, the shadow's coming in
All over my cheeks, especially my chin
Three o'clock in the morning, what could i expect?
It'll be a few more hours, I'd wager to bet
'til my blues and my blacks
And my yellows and whites
Finally come together
And cease this long fight
