Uisge beatha - Usquebae –Aqua vitae
1.
Like the hand writing the pages
Or brush strokes
Never ending details added
Flooding
Drama
Like steam
Emerges
Rises
Evaporates
Then feeds back
2
Pentlands
To
Esk
to
Water of Leith
to
Firth of Forth
Feeds back
to a sea
of calm
3
Storms are welcomed by the plants
both and the rest
give it time
they will come
like moths to the light
waiting
4
Without trying
is penned
only some stories are told
life without punctuation marks
who narrates the narrator
a thousand words will make you understand
5
You do not need to
“Be like water”
It already has been achieved
If you act as you are
Order will be restored
6
As if the dam were opened
The window unlatched
The tap turned to on
Flowing
Dreamtime
You The creator
Thrown into confines
But born without chains
No need to travel to find wilderness
Feed it and its appetite is endless
acts like meanders of the river
The deposits of the bank
Leaves and comes
Like a washing machine
But never stops
Never destroyed
ONLY . . . different
7
Fools teach
The wise listen
Wisdom like the tortoise and the hare
Choose like friends
Yet enemies are full of lessons
“Beautiful words are not honest
Honest words are not beautiful “
Many speak
But say little
Say little and so speak?
Heavy words huffed in haste
8
Fear
(Of the bunyip
Of sharks
Of drowning)
Makes power glad
Fashionable shackles to wear
Quicker in running to anima
Than letting go
Than finding the creator
No Gods or Masters
“Destroy that which destroys you”
Walls divide
The open field has plenty
Draw from the storehouse
Estranged from the family
This could not make sense
Otherwise
This would be beyond question
9
Childish
Like the tourist
Or traveller
Flaneur on a Derive
Not being burned
You never learn
The dangers of fire
Like the hound sniffs
out truffles
the cat’s testing paw
try and you will fall
do without doing
you cannot fail
10
“Two along like buses”
More cryptic than Dao
or so they say
But we all come from the same place
The Sun will always return
The smile is never gone for good
Spring’s like the daffodils
The moon shines through midnight
Darkest before dawn
11
Free to share
like air
Benefits all like water
Humble like earth
Melts the solid
Like fire
“soft overcoming hard”
Spontaneous like the birds
A branch of a huge tree
One to many
many to all
like the fly feeds the finch
chains but no chains
nothing without all
voice shapes the world
let it be spoken
let it be done
the family will make the world
from the fledgling words
IT WILL BE BORN
Like the hand writing the pages
Or brush strokes
Never ending details added
