On Marriage

Again…
The naughty lamb drives itself
Against advice
Into the river
The python-shark-crocodile- all
Lie in wait.

Sweeter, the drink becomes.
Deeper it gets
Into the mouths of the water-tyrant
Now I can hear the ewe’s bleat,
Lonely as before.

The crocodile of companionship river
Has swallowed her lamb, again.
Regret.
Misery.
Mourn.
Solitude.

…Again.
